Food & Nutrition Assistance in VT

For some, the pandemic has made food access increasingly difficult. We’ve gathered information on some of the programs in our area that offer helpful services such as grocery delivery and food assistance. Keep reading to learn more about these amazing organizations and if you can qualify (if applicable).  

Grocery delivery:

Instacart

Allows you to order your groceries online for delivery through their website. Stores participating include Price Chopper, Market 32, Shaw’s, Costco, CVS, and Target. 

City Market 

Grocery delivery to Burlington, Winooski, and parts of South Burlington Monday through Friday (other locations within a 5 mile radius of store locations considered on a case-by-case basis). They require all orders to be placed over the phone (802-861-9723) between 9am-1pm. For more information, check out their website.

Sweet Clover Market 

Grocery delivery to Essex, Essex Junction, Westford, Underhill, and Jericho between 4pm-7pm. You can fill out an order form on their website.

Food assistance programs:

Everyone Eats Vermont

Partners with Vermont restaurants to provide nutritious meals to anyone in need of food assistance. Check out their website to see where meals are available in your community. 

Feeding Chittenden 

Offer multiple food assistance programs, including:

  • Food shelf- provides a 1 week supply of prepackaged groceries. For questions about accessing this program, contact Edi Abeneto at (802) 658-7939 ext. 23 or eabeneto@cvoeo.org.

  • Hot meal program- serving hot meals daily, Monday through Friday from 6:30am-9:30am and Sunday mornings from 9am-11am.

  • Homebound delivery program- delivers a 5-day supply of groceries to senior citizens and populations with mobility issues

Farmers to Families Food Box Program

Distributes boxes of fresh produce, meat, and dairy products to multiple food distribution sites throughout Vermont. Visit their website or call 802-476-0316 for more information.

NOFA-VT Farm Share

Provides access to seasonal, fresh produce on a weekly basis for income-eligible Vermonters. Check out their website for more information and to see if you are eligible.

3SquaresVT

Provide benefits (usually through a debit card/EBT) to low-income households that are accepted at most grocery stores and farmers markers. Check out their website for more information and to see if you are eligible.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) 

Offers nutrition information and a free box of food each month for adults 60 years or older (income-eligible) living in Vermont. Check out their website for more information and to see if you are eligible.

Meals on Wheels

A donation-based delivery of meals to adults 60 years or older and/or with a disability. Check out their website for more information and to see if you are eligible.
